Formalizing Sensing Actions - a transition function based approach

چکیده

In presence of incomplete information about the world we need to distinguish between the state of the world and the state of the agent's knowledge about the world. In such a case the agent may need to have at its disposal sensing actions that change its state of knowledge about the world and may need to construct more general plans consisting of sensing actions and conditional statements to achieve its goal. In this paper we rst develop a high level action description language that allows speciication of sensing actions and their eeects in its domain description and allows queries with conditional plans. We give provably correct translations of domain description in our language to axioms in rst-order logic and logic programming, and relate our formulation to several earlier formulations in the literature. We then analyze the state-space of our formulation and develop several sound approximations that have much smaller state-spaces.

Design of Biosensors Based Transition-Metal Dichalcogenide for DNA-base Detection: A First-Principles Density Functional Theory Study

The main function purpose of nanobiosensors is to sense a biologically specific material and the kind of sensing platform and doping engineering has been an emerging topic and plays an important role in monolayer molybdenum disulfide (mMoS2). In this paper, we theoretically reveal the electronic structures of mMoS2 doped by 3d transition metals. Furthermore, adsorption of nucleic acid [Adenine ...

Formalizing sensing actions A transition function based approach

In this paper we develop a high level action description language .As that mirrors the solution to the frame problem for sensing actions in situation calculus developed by Scherl and Levesque. This is similar to the role the language .4 plays w.r.t, non-sensing actions. In defining the semantics of -As we introduce the notion of a knowledge state which is a pair consisting of a state and a coll...

Regression with Respect to Sensing Actions and Partial States

In this paper, we present a state-based regression function for planning domains where an agent does not have complete information and may have sensing actions. We consider binary domains , and employ the 0-approximation (Son & Baral 2001) to define the regression function. In binary domains, the use of 0-approximation means using 3-valued states. Although planning using this approach is incomp...

Theoretical perspectives on active sensing

A key component of interacting with the world is how to direct ones’ sensors so as to extract task-relevant information — a process referred to as active sensing. In this review, we present a framework for active sensing that forms a closed loop between an ideal observer, that extracts task-relevant information from a sequence of observations, and an ideal planner which specifies the actions th...

Reasoning about Sensing Actions and Reactivity

This thesis focuses on the problem of reasoning about sensing actions and the relationship between action theory and reactive control. The first approach to reasoning about sensing actions is due to Moore1. He used the possible world semantics to represent knowledge and treated the accessible relation between world models as a fluent. Later, Hass proposed another way of formulating sensing acti...
